United Nations – Population, Poverty & Sustainability Development by Alumnus Dr. Donald Lee

Dr. Donald Lee, a class of 1959 alumni, is an Adjunct Representative to the United Nations, a Motivational Speaker, Economist as well as an activist for social change. He advocates for environmentally sustainable social and economic development, human rights, climate change, environmental protection and animal rights.

Donald Lee began his career in the United Nations at the organization’s regional headquarters in Bangkok, Thailand. He later moved to New York to the Division of Social Policy and Development to head its work on poverty and employment – both being key issues that defined his major contributions as an economist in the United Nations.

We were delighted to host Dr. Donald Lee for the second consecutive year to give a talk at GIS. His talk on Population, Poverty & Sustainable Development was fascinating and provided insights into the United Nations and their work to address global development issues. It explored the United Nations’ Sustainable Development goals that serve as a universal call to action to end poverty and protect the planet.
