Our Y12 students have the opportunity to join our STEM enrichment elective if they are interested in Maths, Physics, Chemistry as well as engineering and medical sciences. It was an absolute pleasure to welcome three recent Alumni back to GIS to talk to them. Wei Jen, Ben and Rahul all spent time sharing their experiences of the university experience, application process and course structures, as well as advising students on activities that would best prepare them for their chosen courses at university.
Natalie Clark
Head of Mathematics Faculty / Maths Teacher
“I’d like to thank GIS for having us, especially Ms Clark who gave us the opportunity to speak to the students in enrichment engineering. I was more than happy to share my experience and some advice regarding applications, university life and the engineering course with them. From our conversations, the students seemed very motivated and it was great to see that they weren’t shy to ask questions about their future.”
Wei Jen Chin, Class of ‘20

“The event was great! The students came prepared with questions and were overall very engaged and friendly which made my job easier and more enjoyable. It feels fulfilling to be able to share some of my experiences with them and I hope that it will help them out in the future.”

“It was an amazing experience to talk to current Year 12 students and learn about their various passions and ambitions within STEM! It’s a surreal feeling to think back to four years ago, when we were in exactly the same position, beginning our higher education journeys. Looking back, the GIS A Level program and organized extracurriculars were fantastic preparation for the academic and social leadership aspects of university, and that seems to still be going strong. Our conversations showed me that the students are well-equipped to excel at universities around the world.”
Rahul Chander, Class of ‘20
Reading Computer Engineering & Economics at the University of California, Los Angeles
