The recent events of 2020, and in particular COVID-19, have shone a spotlight on our health, and made us aware of the importance of staying connected, family, lifestyle and community. This series will focus on the wellbeing of GIS’s Alumni, and is just one way we will give back to our Alumni community for their endless support towards our school.
We have some awesome wellbeing webinars coming soon for our GIS Alumni. Don’t miss the chance to meet our fantastic Alumni speakers with a wide range of different backgrounds and expertise, who will be sharing important tips and ideas to rejuvenate your body and soul! Our 2nd speaker in the Wellbeing Series was Alumna Emina Ashman from Class of 2011.
Emina is a trained actor, poet and creative wellness practitioner based in Naarm (Melbourne). She holds an Honours in Independent Theatre Practice from the Victorian College of the Arts and a Graduate Diploma in Creative Writing. Emina is active within the professional and independent theatre circuit, performing in productions such as Green Room Awards nominated ‘Tales of a City by the Sea’ and Melbourne Theatre Company’sHungry Ghosts’. She is currently in the pre-rehearsal season for ‘Poona’, a political and immersive sci-fi dramedy as part of the Next Wave Festival.
As well as being a performer, Emina is also a published poet, playwright and producer of her work. Her debut play ‘Make Me A Houri’, which she wrote and acted in, received glowing reviews from critics for its “startling originality” and “passionately soulful” storytelling.
Last year, Emina performed a poetry set for Berani Bersama’s fundraising campaign for MERCY Malaysia, with the personal intention to raise the spirits of her loved ones back in the tropics from her home in Australia.
In more recent times, Emina specialises in what she loves to describe as spiritual artistry; conscious, intuitive-led creative works inspired by her own personal and embodied spiritual experiences, designed to inspire her audience from a healing, intimate and heart-centered place. These works range from poetry features and performance art, to collaborations with wellbeing spaces and music producers. Her range of creative expression is ever-evolving. As of late, Emina features her work at open-mic nights and conscious wellbeing festivals. Her art responds to provocations around love, relationships, soul lessons and self-healing.
Emina is a certified Hawaiian Lomilomi massage bodyworker. She is also an independent distributor for Healy, a global company promoting frequency healing devices, encouraging people to bring harmony and wellbeing back into their hands.
We would like to thank you for joining our Wellbeing Series event with Emina. We hope that you not only enjoyed it but that you were able to take away some useful strategies for the future. As our Wellbeing Series continues, there will be more events to come over the next few months, so please do lookout for more information about these.
