What is your best memory of GIS?
To be able to recall one memory from my GIS days is quite tough, having been in the school for 14 years. I believe that every moment spent at GIS has become a memory of its own and has its own importance in my life. However, if I was too recall one particular situation, it would have to be when I was in Year 12 and was heading the organisation of Santa’s Grotto and Christmas Party for refugees. The day the Christmas Party took place is a very memorable day for me, as I could see how all the hard work my team and I put in all paid off as we were able to make these kids smile and laugh as we spent time with them and gave them opportunities to make unforgettable memories.
What inspires you in life?
My parents. When I look back over the years and see how both of them have grown as individuals and as one, those moments of truth really inspire me. They have put in a lot of hard work to get to the positions that they are in today and to ensure that when it comes down to both me and my brother, we never feel as if there is something lacking.
How has studying in GIS motivated you to become who you are.
GIS has made me the person I am today. I may still be studying in university at the moment however, to be able to get to this place in the first place was not very easy. GIS has taught me to never give up and face each challenge one by one making each one a learning experience. I think the expectation level that teachers have set for me in GIS really motivates me and drives me to do better. They are very important people in each child’s life as they play an integral role in building our knowledge and skill levels. Thus, making it important to live up to their expectations and making them proud of us.
