What is your best memory of GIS?
GIS Green Team, 2013/14!
What was your favourite subject?
My favourite subject was Mathematics and it was what I went on to study in university.
What inspires you in life?
Mathematics education. My idealistic life-goal is to reform the way Mathematics is taught in schools: understand the origins of formulae, pose more questions, compute less numbers.
Tell us more about the recycling campaign in GIS.
Helia and I, we came up with GIS Green Team back in 2013/14. In that year alone, we had a logo created via a logo design competition, we had 80 volunteer students doing weekly lunchtime recycling runs, we replaced all waste bins with recycling bins, we built a recycling centre in the school parking lot, and the entire campus took part in the March 2014 Earth Hour.
Which teachers influenced you the most?
Teachers who influenced me the most include Mr James Grierson, Mr James Miller, Ms Natalie Clark, Mr James Donaldson, and Dr Michael Browning. Special mention to Mr Daniel Bright and Mr Stephen Tobin for going above and beyond the call of duty to spark my interest in applications of Mathematics and advanced fields of Mathematics respectively.
