What is your best memory of GIS?

It’s hard to single out one memory in particular, as the entire time I was there was memorable! I loved travelling with the football team to the various FOBISSEA and SEASAC tournaments and I really enjoyed my drama classes – I have to thank Ms Sara Lewis and Ms Jo Lee for the countless hours they spent working with our A-level class!

I always loved that everyone at GIS – even the security guards at the gate – had a smile on their face when we walked into school.

If you were a GIS student again, what is one thing that you would change?

I wouldn’t change anything! Being a student for me was all about experiencing and learning from the ups and the downs. If I changed anything, I probably wouldn’t be where I am today.

How did GIS shape who you are today?

GIS gave me the confidence to go out and take on the world. I’m not sure if it’s the same now, but the teachers at GIS helped me realise that in the real world, nothing was going to be handed to you on a silver platter – you had to work hard and go get it for yourself!

Finally Ben, can you please describe your dream life?

As cliche as it may sound, it’s the one that I’m currently living now. I have a healthy and happy family, my close friends are trustworthy and I’m not surrounded by too much negativity. I feel incredibly lucky!
