Garden International School celebrated the graduation of the Year 11s 2013/14 on 27th June 2014. It was an inspiring evening, and highly anticipated by the graduands and their families! The evening unveiled with a beautiful symphony performance by the school musicians, followed by a welcoming speech by Mr. Graham Wilson, Head of Secondary. Dr. Nicola Mason, the incoming Head of Secondary in September 2014 and Mr. Wilson then presented the Graduation & Rewards Certificates.
The guest speaker for the evening was Mr. Tony Pua. Mr. Pua is a Member of Parliament and through his speech, he congratulated the students for their fortune of having had the opportunity to have their education with one of the best schools in Malaysia. Mr. Pua shared, that despite his humble beginnings, he did not limit himself in his pursuit of education and in realizing his dreams. He achieved scholarships to complete his secondary education in Singapore and subsequently in the prestigious Oxford University, UK. He was very successful in his early years of employment and eventually took the step to set up a public listed company in Singapore. Mr. Pua also took the opportunity to urge the students to be passionate in what they do and encouraged them to give back to society. It was indeed an honour to have him with us for this event!
The evening continued with the presentation of Subject Awards and Special Awards by Mr. B.K. Gan, the President of Taylor’s Schools and Mr. Stuart Walker, the Principal of GIS. Here’s the list of subjects and the award recipients:

The evening concluded with the announcement of the 2014/15 Sixth Form Scholarships and a closing speech by Mr. Walker.
After the ceremony, the graduands, together with their families took the opportunity to have their photographs taken professionally as a memento of their graduation.
We are very pleased that 60% of them have chosen to pursue their A Level with GIS. For the rest, they will be heading to the UK, Singapore, Italy and some in Malaysia.
We would like to take the opportunity to congratulate the graduands on your achievements and we wish you all the best in the next phase of your education, We’re sure all the hard work and dedication will be worth it when you receive the IGCSE results in August!
