Kira Narayanan (Class of 2012)
BookMyShow, India’s leading entertainment ticketing portal, brings Disney’s ‘Aladdin’ to life on Indian stages at Mumbai’s National Centre for the Performing Arts (April 2018).
We are very proud to share the news that after an extensive casting process, our Alumna Kira Narayanan has been chosen to play the coveted role of Princess Jasmine. “Growing up, Princess Jasmine was iconic to me. Playing her in any capacity was always a pipe dream, and now to have the chance to do that in a Broadway style musical singing ‘Whole New World’? It’s a truly magical experience.”
A few words from Krupa Narayanan:
“GIS holds a very special place in my heart for having given me the chance to fearlessly explore prospects I never imagined I could have. I consider myself very lucky to have had to opportunity to study in an environment where our weekly Drama, Music and Art lessons were just as valued as our Maths or Science education. Unfortunately, the Arts are still not seen as an important component of holistic education in many schools across the world, and I hope that in time this will change.”
Advice for GIS’ students who would like to choose the same path as yours:
“Focus on building tenacity, a good work ethic and unwavering belief. Keep learning, keep trying (and trying harder, especially when you fail), and most importantly, never give up!”
