We were fortunate enough to recently welcome teacher alumni Dr Margaret Yoon to GIS. Dr Yoon, who taught at GIS in the 1970s, conducted an informative workshop for our parents focused on ‘The Seven Keys Towards a More Successful, Joyful and Contented life.’ Thank you to Margaret for equipping us with a toolkit to commence a journey towards better health, happiness and wellbeing.
“It gave me great pleasure to present to the parents at GIS. The attendees’ enthusiastic participation shows that adults, much like young people, need to be acquainted with the tools of self-care and self-love so that one’s wellbeing can be nourished and sustained at optimum levels. This will allow for more joy as well as interactions and relationships with others to flourish. I hope all parents who participated in my workshop will share the tools they have learnt with their children and friends so that the wellbeing of many others will also be uplifted and communities as a whole can enjoy greater peace and harmony and greater happiness in their lives.”
Presenter – Dr Margaret Yoon PhD(Melb), M.Ed (W.Aust), B.Ed (UK)
“It is always our pleasure and honour to welcome back alumni to enrich the experience of our school community. Dr Yoon kindly shared her knowledge with us, delivering a very active parent workshop which allowed us all to learn some tools to keep us better connected, live healthier lives, and nourish ourselves. As our community learning continues to grow, alumni, parents and friends of the school continuously help to promote our learning culture. ”

Director of Professional Learning & Deputy Head (Whole School)
“I found Dr Margaret’s workshop to be very interesting, very peaceful and relaxing. The ideas of seeking inner peace and happiness are similar to Buddhism. The breathing practice and body exercises remind me of Qigong and Tai Chi. I enjoyed the workshop very much. Thanks Dr Margaret and to the school too which brought us to such a helpful spiritual journey.”

A huge ‘Thank You’ to Dr Yoon for coming back to GIS all the way from Australia, who generously shared her time and experiences with our parents, despite her busy daily schedules.
